The ICSC Foundation Awards Arabian Centres for Charitable Campaign
DUBAI, UAE, 26 November 2013 – Shopping centres are an integral part of the communities they are located in – as a place to gather, shop and relax – and the shopping centre industry has a long history of giving back to their communities. To recognize the philanthropic contributions made by shopping centres and companies across the Middle East and North Africa the ICSC Foundation awards one campaign with the Middle East & North Africa Community Support Award. This year’s award has gone to Arabian Centres, in Saudi Arabia, for their “Fighting Breast Cancer” campaign, which was rolled out to all 12 of their centres across the country and was intended to raise awareness for this important cause.
Through their partnership with the Zahra Breast Cancer Association, Arabian Centres set up diagnosis booths at each of their malls, giving women throughout Saudi Arabia access to early detection testing, free of charge. In addition to the temporary health care facilities, the centres also launched a pink-themed campaign to raise awareness and provide crucial information that can help save lives. Each woman who visited the malls during the month of October 2012 received educational and supporting materials.
In addition to the award, the ICSC Foundation will contribute $5,000 USD to the Zahra Breast Cancer Association, and Arabian Centres will be entered to win ICSC’s highest charitable honor, the Albert Sussman Community Support Award, which includes an additional $10,000 USD charitable grant.
