The Macerich Co., Santa Monica, Calif., promoted David M. Short, CMD, CSM, to vice president of asset management. Short was vice president of property management for Macerich’s Central-Eastern region.

Bill McDermid

General Growth Properties hired Bill McDermid as group vice president overseeing its properties in Arizona and New Mexico. McDermid was a vice president at Eddie Bauer, where he developed more than 500 stores and a corporate campus facility.

Developers Diversified Realty Corp. recruited Todd Crosby and Philip S. Ozan as director of construction for the Western region and senior tenant coordinator, respectively. Crosby was a regional general contractor for Big D Construction Corp., Salt Lake City, and Ozan was a construction project manager for Neshkin Construction, Cleveland.

Buchanan Street Partners, Newport Beach, Calif., named Jack D. Kappe vice president and Tammy Harpster assistant vice president, respectively, of asset management. Kappe was CFO of Pacifica Capital Group, Los Angeles, and Harpster managed high-tech development projects for DPR Construction, Redwood City, Calif.

Jubeen Vaghefi and Jeffrey Morris joined Rockwood Realty Associates, New York City, as managing directors serving at the company’s new Miami office. Before joining Rockwood, Vaghefi and Morris were managing directors at Insignia/ESG’s Capital Advisors Group in the Miami and Orlando offices, respectively.


Lisa Stricker

Taubman Centers has appointed Lisa Stricker marketing director for Woodfield, Schaumburg, Ill., a 2.2 million-square-foot super-regional mall. Taubman manages the mall for its owner, Detroit-based General Motors Pension Trust. Stricker has held public relations and marketing positions at Bally Total Fitness, Chicago.

Robert Kahn

Noddle Development Co., an Omaha, Neb., retail development firm, promoted Robert Kahn to director of property management/leasing from senior property manager/leasing. Kahn will supervise 58 properties in 17 states. The company also hired Jaclynn D. Jacobs and Marcia Eslick as property managers and leasing representatives. Jacobs conducted market research for Bancap Self Storage Group, Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., and Eslick was a property manager for CB Richard Ellis/Mega in Omaha.

Henry Fred Flieck, 55, a former real estate executive for several major retailers, has died. In his most recent position, Flieck was a real estate broker for Collier’s International Property Consultants, Boston. Flieck’s previous posts include executive vice president of growth and development for The Sports Authority, Englewood, Colo.; senior vice president of real estate for Staples, Framingham, Mass.; and vice president of real estate for Acme Markets, Philadelphia.
