The ICSC Foundation Awards The Link Management for Charitable Campaign

BEIJING, China, December 2, 2013 – Shopping centres are an integral part of the communities they are located in – as a place to gather, shop and relax – and the shopping centre industry has a long history of giving back to those communities. To recognize the philanthropic contributions made by shopping centers and companies across the Asia, the ICSC Foundation awards one campaign with the Asia Pacific Community Support Award. This year’s award has gone to The Link Management Limited, based out of Kowloon, Hong Kong, for their “The Link Community Sports Academy” campaign that promoted and raised awareness of the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle.

The Link established the sports academy in June of 2012, with the aim of fostering a sense of teamwork, community, health and social inclusion throughout each community that a Link shopping center is located in. The sports academy provided free sports training to more than 1,500 participants, including those with disabilities. All 12 of The Link’s shopping centres participated, and tenants provided sports equipment.

In addition to the award, the ICSC Foundation will contribute $5,000 USD to the Hong Kong Blind Sports Federation which will use the contribution to sponsor their blind soccer team. The Link will be entered to win ICSC’s highest charitable honor, the Albert Sussman Community Support Award, which includes an additional $10,000 USD charitable grant.
